Assassination[]

King was shot on the 4th of April, 1968. He was staying at a local motel in Memphis, Tennessee while supporting a local strike by sanitation workers before being shot by a rifle while standing on a balcony. Officially, the police blamed James Earl Ray, a local criminal with possible white supremacist leanings who was staying in the same motel and who's fingerprints were on a rifle and binoculars stuffed in a nearby bin.

Conspiracy[]

  • The bullets found in King's body did not match those on the gun that Ray's fingerprints were found on.
  • All black police officers were mysteriously dismissed by the chief of police on the night of the assassination, two officers continued to work that night and monitored King, and recieved threatening and mysterious phone calls that only ended after the assassination.
  • Solomon Jones, a volunteer who often drove King around Memphis, claimed to have seen a hooded figure holding a rifle fleeing some nearby bushes in the motel. The next day, municipal workers destroyed the bushes, rendering police unable to investigate the area.
