Fritz Haber

"father of chemical warfare"[2]

During World War I, Fritz Haber pioneered in weaponizing chlorine and other poisonous gases. Haber is considered the "father of chemical warfare". In the same year as the Spanish flu of 1918, Fritz Haber received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his invention of the Haber–Bosch process,[3] a method used in industry to synthesize ammonia from nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas, used for production of explosives.[2]

Chlorine gas was also used during the holocaust of World War II.
