In December 2020, UK medicines regulator authorized the release of Pfizer/BioNTech Covid vaccine, with an efficacy of almost 95% to combat coronavirus. The authorization comes one year after the coronavirus pandemic that broke out in late 2019.
For an effective vaccine to be effective, it takes 10 years and costs 500 million dollars to develop. Viruses can affect people in different ways, especially COVID-19. Numerous virus trials are required for an effective vaccine which cannot be completed in just one year. The following chart shows vaccine development:
